Hayley, 13, braves Mini Tough Mudder challenge for Canine Partners

Mini tough mudder (1)Adventurous Hayley Golding crawled through sludge and battled obstacles in a Mini Tough Mudder challenge to raise £175 for assistance dog charity Canine Partners.

Selfless Hayley, 13, from Sittingbourne, Kent, signed up to the Mini Mudder race in Winchester, Hampshire, and took part in a run jam-packed with numerous obstacles including a spider-web, mud hill, climbing obstacles and muddy tunnels.

The daring youngster, whose family is the proud holder of Canine Partners brood bitch Bonny, raised the hard-earned cash to train more assistance dogs, transforming the lives of people with disabilities.

Canine Partners trains dogs to do tasks such as opening and closing doors, undressing, pressing buttons, retrieving items, unloading washing machines, taking card and cash from ATMs and other everyday tasks that disabled people find difficult, painful or impossible to do for themselves.

Mini tough mudder (2)Hayley said: “I wanted to do it because I want people to notice Canine Partners more and raise money for them.

“I have a few more fundraising ideas in the pipeline after Bonny has had her puppies. I will bake cakes and I would do a sponsored bike ride on my own.”

Canine Partners was formed in 1990 so is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. They have partnered 580 assistance dogs across the UK to date. These amazing dogs have changed the lives of those they are helping: restoring independence, giving family members peace of mind and even saving lives by responding in emergencies.

Holly Bryan, Events and Challenge Co-ordinator at Canine Partners, said: “Hayley braved all sorts of obstacles to raise money for Canine Partners. We are grateful for her support and the money she raised really will transform the lives of people with disabilities through our amazing assistance dogs.”
