Generous Gregory pounded the streets to raise £200 for Canine Partners

Gregory Hopkinson runs Robin Hood Half Marathon (1)Fundraiser Gregory Hopkinson pounded the streets during the Ikano Robin Hood half marathon to raise £200 for assistance dog charity Canine Partners.

Determined Gregory, 31, from West Bridgford, completed the 13.1 mile event in two hours four minutes on Sunday 27 September.

The money Gregory raises will enable the Charity to train more assistance dogs, transforming the lives of people with disabilities.

Canine Partners trains dogs to perform tasks such as opening and closing doors, undressing, pressing buttons, retrieving items, unloading washing machines, taking card and cash from ATMs and other everyday tasks that disabled people find difficult, painful or impossible to do for themselves.

Gregory, an accounts assistant, said: “It was a great atmosphere and enjoyable day. I’m glad I did it for Canine Partners. I really do hope what I’ve raised helps in some small way to train a dog and help someone who desperately needs assistance.”

Canine Partners was formed in 1990 so is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.  They have partnered 530 assistance dogs across the UK to date.  These amazing dogs have changed the lives of those they are helping: restoring independence, giving family members peace of mind, allowing their disabled partners to return to work and even saving lives by responding in emergencies.
