Canine Partners Southern Centre welcomes local pupils

On Thursday 12 November our Southern Centre held an Information Session with a slight difference - it was specially for local school children to learn more about what we do.

Education Officer Stacey Cullen talks to school children about Canine Partners

Across the day we welcomed a total of five local schools including: Midhurst Primary, Conifers School, Graffam Infant School, Easebourne Primary and Thakeham First School. There were a total of 85 excited school children who all got to meet some of our dogs in training, an excellent learning opportunity for the dogs too.

The children and their teachers enjoyed demonstrations from Sarah and demo dog Hamlet as well as further meet and greet opportunities with some of our partners and their canine partners.

After each child received a goodie bag and information about Canine Partners to take home to their parents, they boarded their coaches and minibuses and were waved off by staff, volunteers and puppies. A fantastic day had by all.

The day was such a success it has been decided that there will be another at both the Southern Centre and Midlands Centre. Watch this space for more information.

We cannot thank Canine Partners enough for their special Education Information Session. The children and staff really enjoyed themselves and it was great that the children were able to become more aware of all the issues spoken about on the day, whilst they were so engaged with enjoying the dogs. We all thought the dogs were amazingly well behaved and obviously very well trained! It was lovely to be met and sent off by the dogs and your staff. The children afterwards all had lots of questions, thank you letters and shared everything they learned. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers that made our visit possible.
