Great Humberts Cycle raises over £2,500

cycling in rainOn 17th September, fantastic staff from several Humberts offices got in a spin by cycling 60 miles per branch to raise much needed funds for us. The challenge involved cycling on static bikes for a total of 1,215 miles – the distance between all 21 of their branches.

As well as pushing the pedals, many of the offices also baked delicious cakes and organised raffles with fabulous prizes as well.

The total raised equates to just over £2 per mile ridden, an amazing achievement and a significant chunk of the £7,500 that the estate agents have pledged to raise for their adorable sponsored puppy Humbert.

This money will go towards Humbert’s training and care as he learns the crucial skills he will need to help transform the life of a person
with physical disabilities.

Ian Westerling managing director of Humberts said: “We’re so proud of all our staff who took part in this gruelling ride – it was a huge team effort and we were delighted with their results.

“Having recently met the puppy we’re sponsoring, aptly named Humbert, our staff were even more motivated to hit their targets. Canine Partners do an amazing job and we’re pleased to be raising money for them.”

A huge thank you to everyone at Humberts for all of their hard work, as well as to those who donated so generously.

Canine Partners and Pawshake 2016

Pawshake was founded in 2010 by Dries Coucke and Tanguy Peers, fuelled by a shared passion for using the internet to make meaningful connections and to improve pet and owner lives.

Under the charity partnership, The Pawshake Community will reach out to its sitters to ask for help volunteering at fundraising and awareness raising events. Pawshake’s Katy Summer was a guest judge at the Charity’s Summer Show on Saturday 2 July, a vital role on the day.

Head of Donor Development Cat Harvey said: “We are very grateful for Pawshake’s enthusiastic support for Canine Partners and we hope that many of the Pawshake community will be able to come and volunteer and to spread the word about our work. We look forward to the year ahead.”

Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust donate £600

Canine Partners continues to support all established partnerships for their lifetime. We have partnerships in all regions of the UK and we are very pleased that Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust has chosen to support our work in Bradford, where the trust is based.

Sovereign Health Care has a long history of charitable giving. The healthcare group doesn’t have shareholders; any surplus it makes is reinvested in the business or given to the charitable trust. Over the past 7 years the charitable trust has donated in excess of £4 million to good causes – essentially either local organisations that improve the health and well-being of people in Bradford and the surrounding area or national health-related charities that provide a clear benefit to people in the area.

Wilko choose Canine Partners

Wilko team members will be taking on a range of different and exciting events throughout the year. We look forward to seeing what they have planned!

A big thank you to The Petplan Charitable Trust

As an organisation, we neuter all dogs which enter the training programme, at an age approved by the veterinary surgeon. The welfare of the dogs in our care is paramount and neutering all dogs in training is essential for the health benefits to the dog as well as giving the dogs a greater chance of living a less frustrating and potentially unsettled life. We train over 100 puppies in training satellites throughout the UK each year.

Trust and Corporate Manager, Cat Harvey, said : “We are extremely grateful to the Petplan Charitable Trust for this generous support. It will be an immense help towards funding the ongoing costs we incur in ensuring our dogs are well cared for, now and in the future.”

ARINC, supporting Canine Partners for over 10 years

The firm, which is owned by Rockwell Collins and headquartered in the USA, continues to make regular donations to help us train our special dogs and to-date, they have donated over £18,000 from their UK offices.

Sally Scott & Nero (lower res)ARINC has helped sponsor several dogs through their training, including Nero, who is partnered with Sally in Eastbourne. Sally says her disability is progressive and Nero has had to adjust with her. This has meant he has had to learn new tasks such as how to press her ‘life-line’ alarm. He has also had to slow his pace right down when he is walking with Sally. Nero is an integral part of all aspects of Sally’s life. One of her hobby’s is carriage-driving with the Riding for the Disabled Association and Nero is a big hit with her group as he accompanies her to meetings and events.

“I could not imagine life without Nero now…I thank everyone at Canine Partners for making our partnership possible, allowing me to continue being a dog owner, plus restoring my independence, which to me is so very important.”

Trust and Corporate Manager Cat Harvey said: “ARINC has been with Canine Partners as we have grown year-on-year and we are extremely grateful for their continuing support. Helping us to create successful partnerships like Sally and Nero’s is testament to how support like theirs really does transform lives.”

Funds raised in memory of HSBC colleague for Canine Partners

site_imagery_HSBClogoThis magnificent total was raised in a year of fundraising by HSBC Southampton and other HSBC sites in memory of their colleague, Julia Ross.

Cat Harvey, Trusts and Corporate Manager for Canine Partners said: “We are grateful to receive this generous cheque from HSBC’s employees and would like to thank everyone for their fantastic fundraising efforts.

“We are very touched by the commitment these individuals have shown in raising money to name an assistance dog Juju, in Julia’s memory. The puppy will become a life changing canine partner and will make a real difference to the life of a disabled person, once it has completed its training. “

Stephanie Murray, from HSBC Southampton, said: “

“Julia Ross our colleague and friend, who sadly passed away in November 2014, suggested Canine Partners as our local charity partner and having met a number of Canine Partners staff and some of the people who have benefited from an assistance dog, we could not have wished for a better partnership. In memory of Julia we were inspired to raise as much money as possible and enough so her family could name a puppy ‘Juju’ in her memory.

The total amount raised includes donations from Julia’s funeral as well as events organised by global HSBC sites that worked with her.
