Facts and Figures
Our latest figures – June 2025
- We have over 292 working partnerships across the UK.
- We have created over 1000 partnerships since we were founded in 1990.
- We are accredited members of Assistance Dogs UK and Assistance Dogs International.
- Each partnership costs £50,000 from puppyhood to retirement – that’s approximately £6.85 per day over the lifetime of the partnership.
- We currently have 90 applicants on our waiting list. This includes: 79 people on the waiting list for a canine partner assistance dog, five people on the waiting list for a home assistance canine, and six people on the waiting list for a canine companion.
- We have 57 puppies out with Puppy Training volunteers and 20 dogs in advanced training at our National Training Centre in Leicestershire.
- We have 12 broods and currently, 80% of puppies placed with puppy parents are bred by Canine Partners, the remaining are from other ADUK charities.
- From the amazing dogs we train, 60% of them become fully-qualified jacketed canine partner assistance dogs.
- 40% of our dogs become either home assistance canines helping their partner around the home, canine companions as a well-trained pet in the home of a family where someone has a disability, or they have a career change within Canine Partners as a brood, dog ambassador, or an applicant assessment dog. If a dog isn’t suited to any of these roles, they are rehomed as a loving pet.
- We work with other Assistance Dogs UK charities to train dual-purpose dogs – assistance dogs that are trained to support two different needs, such as mobility and hearing. These dogs receive specialist training from both charities to ensure they can carry out both roles effectively. We have a total of three dual dogs across the UK.
- We receive no government funding and rely on donations from the public, businesses and charitable trusts and legacies.
