Employees from HSBC’s Southampton office met Canine Partners volunteer Alison Bailey and demonstration dog Yarna to present us with a cheque for £11,216.86.
This magnificent total was raised in a year of fundraising by HSBC Southampton and other HSBC sites in memory of their colleague, Julia Ross.
Cat Harvey, Trusts and Corporate Manager for Canine Partners said: “We are grateful to receive this generous cheque from HSBC’s employees and would like to thank everyone for their fantastic fundraising efforts.
“We are very touched by the commitment these individuals have shown in raising money to name an assistance dog Juju, in Julia’s memory. The puppy will become a life changing canine partner and will make a real difference to the life of a disabled person, once it has completed its training. “
Stephanie Murray, from HSBC Southampton, said: “
“Julia Ross our colleague and friend, who sadly passed away in November 2014, suggested Canine Partners as our local charity partner and having met a number of Canine Partners staff and some of the people who have benefited from an assistance dog, we could not have wished for a better partnership. In memory of Julia we were inspired to raise as much money as possible and enough so her family could name a puppy ‘Juju’ in her memory.
The total amount raised includes donations from Julia’s funeral as well as events organised by global HSBC sites that worked with her.
