Meet Ann and Amira
Hello! I’m Amira and I live in Hindhead, right in the beautiful Surrey Hills. My favourite place nearby is the Devil’s Punchbowl – it’s part of King Charles’ new National Nature Reserve and it’s so gorgeous that humans call it an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
When I was just fourteen months old, I was chosen to join the breeding team (I felt very important!). Sadly, I hurt both my knees (they call it “anterior cruciate ligament injuries”) and I also developed an inherited cataract in my right eye. Because of that, I had to retire early in June 2024.
I’m a happy, nosey girl who loves to be out and about! Meeting new people and getting lots of fuss is the best part of any event for me.On my days off, I love walking in Alice Holt Forest with my two best friends (they’re ex-CP dogs too). We always stop at the café for a doggy ice cream – yum! Then I curl up back home for a nice, long snooze.
My human started volunteering with Canine Partners as a Puppy Training Volunteer back in 2014. Three of the puppies she raised are now fully trained and working—two live in Scotland and one in the Midlands. She even got to demonstrate TTR with one of them to Her Majesty The Queen in 2017 at Heyshott (I think she’s still very proud of that!).
We’re also part of the Hampshire Community Group. Every month, my human’s daughter and her cousin run a charity cake stand at local off-road motorcycle trials to raise money for Canine Partners. Since 2022, they’ve raised £2,886 – pretty amazing, right?
I look forward to meeting you at our events!
Lots of love
Amira
