Staff Spotlight: Meet Cat

Meet Cat, Head of Fundraising at Canine Partners, bringing nearly 16 years of experience to the role.

This November marks 16 incredible years since I first joined Canine Partners. I still remember stepping into the organisation back in 2009, initially in a maternity cover role within the fundraising team. I was responsible for grant-making trusts and legacies, a role that soon blossomed into something far greater than I could have imagined.
Over the years, there have been countless moments that have left a mark on me, but one that truly stands out is the opening of the National Training Centre in 2021. As the Fundraising Co-ordinator for the project, I was part of the team tasked with raising £4 million to make it happen. To see the Centre finally open and buzzing with activity after years of dedication and hard work was both emotional and incredibly fulfilling.
Another memory that sticks in my mind and one that always makes me smile, is the day I found myself knee-deep in mud, helping to push cars out of a waterlogged field at our Southern Training Centre. It was chaotic, messy, and a far cry from the National Training Centre opening but it was also a perfect example of the spirit and camaraderie that defines Canine Partners.
The best part of working at Canine Partners is, without a doubt, seeing the real-world impact our work has on people’s lives. I have seen many partnerships created over the years and hearing the stories from partners about their dog and the difference they have made still brings a lump to my throat.
Another great thing is the people – from the staff, the partners and the volunteers. Everyone is so passionate about what we do and has a genuine passion for the cause. I have had the privilege of working with some incredible people over the years, some of which have become life-long friends. I’ve met members of the Royal Family, run marathons and met my husband at Canine Partners. The connections I’ve made here have shaped both my personal and professional life.
As I look to the future, my hope is that Canine Partners continues to flourish and expand. There is so much potential and so many lives we’ve yet to reach. I just wish more people knew about the incredible work we do!
Here’s to many more years of changing lives, one paw at a time.
