Celebrating our volunteers: Meet Liz and Peter
Posted 9 hours ago
During Volunteers’ Week, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible individuals who dedicate their time and energy to making a difference. It’s even more special this year as we approach our 35th birthday!

“Volunteering has given our lives real purpose and the feeling of giving something back is amazing.”
My name is Liz, and along with my husband Peter, we’ve been Puppy Parent volunteers with Canine Partners for 11 years. It all started when we came across their stand at Crufts. Something about it really struck a chord, especially as we have a grandson who uses a wheelchair. We wanted to give something back, and this felt like the perfect way.
Since then, we’ve helped raise several amazing dogs and every puppy has taught us something new. Saying goodbye is always tough, but knowing the difference they’ll make keeps us going.
Canine Partners has supported us every step of the way, always making us feel valued. We’ve grown too, becoming more confident, getting involved in fundraising, and speaking to others about the charity.
Volunteering has added so much purpose to our retirement. It’s one of the most rewarding things we’ve ever done. If you’re thinking about it, give it a try – it could be life-changing, not just for the puppy, but for you too!
