Meet our London Marathon Runner for 2026!
Barry Fields, from Nottinghamshire, started supporting Canine Partners in 2023 when he and his wife, Siobhan, became Puppy Training volunteers. Alongside their three daughters and family Labrador, Albus, they welcomed eight-week-old Labrador puppy, Flo, into their home.

Over the course of a year, Barry and his family helped train and socialise Flo, preparing her for her future as a life-changing assistance dog. As part of her early socialisation, Barry took Flo into a local primary school, giving children the chance to learn about Canine Partners and the vital work assistance dogs do.
“Being a puppy training volunteer gave us a real insight into the life-changing work Canine Partners does. Watching Flo grow and knowing she’ll go on to help someone was incredibly rewarding,” Barry said.

Taking on a new challenge
After completing her time with the family earlier this year, Flo moved on to advanced training at our National Training Centre in Loughborough. Inspired by their time with her, Barry took on a new challenge. In September 2025, he applied and was selected as Canine Partners’ official runner for the 2026 London Marathon, aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity.
Barry is a fitness enthusiast and runs alongside his wife, who is training for an ultra-marathon. Following a structured marathon plan combining advice from local runners and fitness apps, he has been steadily building endurance while balancing work and family life.
“Training over the past six months has been challenging but rewarding. With the marathon still several months away, I’m focusing on building steadily and making sure I’m ready. Knowing the money raised will directly support Canine Partners makes every mile worthwhile,” Barry said.
Making every mile count
Barry is using his local and professional networks to support his fundraising, including schools, sports clubs, and parent groups, as well as planning community events to raise awareness – continuing the work he started with Flo. His workplace, Experian, is also supporting him through match funding and volunteering initiatives, helping him reach his target.
For Barry, running the London Marathon is about more than completing 26.2 miles. It’s an opportunity to give back to a charity that has made a lasting impact on his family and to help us create more life-changing partnerships.
“Running the London Marathon is my way of supporting a charity that has made such a difference to our family,” he said.
