National Training Centre

Set in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside, our National Training Centre brings together our training, partnerships, and wider charity activities in one dedicated location, enabling us to support disabled people across the UK.

A purpose-built training environment

Our centre offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor spaces designed to help our dogs learn, develop, and gain confidence at every stage of their training. Two dedicated arenas support our puppy and assistance dog training, assessments, and events. Secure outdoor training areas allow dogs to practise skills in different environments and enjoy free running in a safe, controlled setting.

Designed around welfare

Dog welfare is central to everything we do. Completed in early 2020, our modern kennel facilities can accommodate up to 40 dogs, and provide a relaxing place for our dogs to rest while they train onsite. They are temperature controlled to ensure comfort all year round, feature cosy beds, and enrichment areas.

The facilities include a dedicated veterinary room, a grooming area, and a quarantine space to safeguard against infection. This allows us to maintain high standards of care while supporting dogs at different stages of their training.

Accessible and inclusive

The entire site has been designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for people with a wide range of mobility and access needs.

Our residential accommodation is fully adapted for people with disabilities and includes rooms for carers. This enables us to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for partners as they complete their placement course and begin life with their assistance dog.

A hub for our work

As well as being a specialist training site, the centre is home to many of our central teams who support operations, fundraising, communications and the wider work of the charity.
