Adrenaline-junkie Sara to take part in Tough Mudder for Canine Partners

Determined Sara Trott is set to crawl in mud and swim through ice in a Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for assistance dog charity Canine Partners.

Sara, 23, who is an Advanced Trainer at the Charity, has signed up to the London West Tough Mudder and will take part in a 20km run jam-packed with army obstacles on Sunday 1 May.

Sara, who will be completing the challenge with amputee Afghanistan veteran boyfriend Mike Goody, hopes to raise at least £600 which will enable the Charity to train more assistance dogs, transforming the lives of people with physical disabilities.

Canine Partners trains dogs to perform tasks such as opening and closing doors, undressing, pressing buttons, retrieving items, unloading washing machines, taking card and cash from ATMs and other everyday tasks that disabled people find difficult, painful or impossible to do for themselves.

Adventurous Sara, from Angmering, said: “I’m really excited about taking part in Tough Mudder. The obstacles are going to be extremely tough both physically and mentally so Mike and I have been training for this event in all different ways for months.

“Being an Advanced Trainer at Canine Partners, I am lucky enough to be part of the process of not only training the dogs, but putting together a partnership that is going to change someone’s life completely. Knowing that the dogs I train will go on to create great independence for someone and give them a life that they may not have been able to have before is fantastic.

“The more sponsorship we get means more money going towards Canine Partners therefore helping us grow and change even more people’s lives for the better. From buying essential training equipment to purchasing a young puppy, any amount of money will really make a huge difference to someone. If you are able to support us and donate then please do and we will be incredibly grateful.”

Canine Partners was formed in 1990 and have partnered more than 600 assistance dogs across the UK to date. These amazing dogs have changed the lives of those they are helping: restoring independence, giving family members peace of mind and even saving lives by responding in emergencies.
